Okra stew is one of the most popular of recent trending meals on earth. It’s simple, it is quick, it tastes delicious. It is enjoyed by millions every day. They are fine and they look fantastic. Okra stew is something that I’ve loved my entire life.
Add the okra and tomatoes, making sure to add the reserved juice from the tomatoes to the saute pan. Okra Stew (also called Yakhnit Bamyeh in Arabic) is a delicious hearty stew made with garlic, cilantro, tomato sauce beef and fresh or frozen okra. What I love about the stews we eat is that they are super easy to make in one pot, have a ton of nutrition and they are very comforting in the winter over a warm bowl of rice pilaf. This Seafood Okra Stew is a classic West African way to enjoy okra (okro): wiith tiger prawns and white fish in a flavorful tomato sauce.
To get started with this recipe, we have to prepare a few ingredients. You can have okra stew using 9 ingredients and 8 steps. Here is how you can achieve it.
The ingredients needed to make Okra stew:
- Take 1 kg fresh green okra or, frozen
- Get 500 g beef or lamb meat - cubes
- Get 500 ml Tomato sauce \ juice
- Get 10-12 cloves garlic - minced
- Prepare 1 bunch fresh green coriander - chopped
- Take to taste Salt
- Prepare Beef broth (as you like the sauce concistansy)
- Take 1 tbsp Tomato paste
- Take 1 drizzle of cinnamon
There's a reason why the Southern dish of stewed okra and tomatoes is timeless. First you start with browning some bacon, then you add the holy trinity—onions, bell pepper, and celery, then the tomatoes, okra and spices. Everything is cooked together until tender and almost falling apart. Stewed Okra and Tomatoes is a healthy and delicious southern side.
Steps to make Okra stew:
- Boil meat with all the aromatic herbs and spices (cardamom, bay leaves, 1 small onion, cinnamon sticks,…..), Untill it is well done
- Trim okra head, and wash well, then let to dry completely.(This in case of green fresh okra).if you are using frozen okra use directly.
- Deep fry okra untill it is golden brown. If you want to cook it in a healthy way with out using too much oil then follow my recipe
- Heat 2 tbsp vegetable oil in a cooking pot, add half the amount of minced garlic and chopped coriander, stir untill fragrant
- Add Okra and toss with out using a spoon
- Add tomato sauce/ juice, salt, cinnamon, 1 tbsp lemon juice tomato paste, and part of the garlic and Coriander quentety bring to a boil, cover the pot and leave on medium low heat
- When okra is cooked, add add the rest quentety of garlic and Coriander, drizzle of cinnamon and lemon juice, leave 5 minutes.
- Take off heat. Serve hot with cooked vermicelli rice
Everything is cooked together until tender and almost falling apart. Stewed Okra and Tomatoes is a healthy and delicious southern side. Fresh summer okra, sliced and cooked with canned tomatoes (you could use fresh instead), bacon, onion, celery, and a few seasonings makes a delicious vegetable side dish for almost any meal. Okra is not a vegetable to be cooked al dente; it yearns for long, slow simmering, which makes it the perfect vegetable for stews. And, like onions, okra is wonderful caramelized and tossed in any vegetable medley.
