This may be an easy-peasy dish to prepare for veteran moms but personally i found t hard to perfect this dish. I always wanted a thick, and tender mung bean soup but it took me a lot of hits and misses before i arrived to this, so i am sharing it with you. Ginisang Munggo or Sauteed Mung Beans with Spinach is a simple yet nice tasting Filipino vegetable dish. This is usually eaten as a main dish along with warm white rice.
Mel’s Ginisang Munggo is one of the most popular of recent trending foods on earth. It is easy, it’s quick, it tastes yummy. It is appreciated by millions daily. They’re nice and they look fantastic. Mel’s Ginisang Munggo is something that I’ve loved my whole life.
To begin with this recipe, we have to first prepare a few components. You can have mel’s ginisang munggo using 9 ingredients and 7 steps. Here is how you cook it.
The ingredients needed to make Mel’s Ginisang Munggo:
- Make ready 700 g Pork Shoulder Steak cut into cubes
- Make ready 1 Large Onion chopped
- Make ready 3-4 cloves Garlic crushed and chopped
- Make ready 2 Fresh Tomatoes chopped
- Make ready 250 g Mung Beans (soaked in water for 2-4 hrs)
- Prepare 500 g King Prawns with Shell
- Get 1 bag Fresh Baby Spinach Leaves (or bag of fresh leafy salads lol)
- Get 1 handful Fresh Chillies or Chilli Flakes
- Make ready Seasoned with a splash of fish sauce and ground black pepper
Mung bean was used as an ingredient in different desserts and main dishes as well. The most famous Mung bean dish is the "Ginisang Munggo" (Sauteed Mung Bean). This dish makes use of Mung beans as the main ingredient complimented by different flavors from meat, seafood, and vegetables. Monggo Guisado is another version of Ginisang Monggo; this time using fish flakes from left over fried fish.
Instructions to make Mel’s Ginisang Munggo:
- Sauté onions and garlic, cooked until semi-translucent then add chopped tomatoes. Sauté then add the chopped pork shoulders steaks. Cook further until pork has turned brown.
- Add the Mung Beans, stirring. Then add about 2-3 cupful a of water. Boil and lower the heat.
- Cook further until the beans are thoroughly cooked and soft and meat is tender. Water should be a lot less by now.
- Add the chilli flakes or fresh Chillies, then also add the prawns. Cooked further until prawns had changed colours (don’t overcooked the prawns as you don’t want to eat a rubbery textured prawns).
- Mix in the fresh or frozen baby spinach leaves or like what I did, fresh salad leaves lol. (Didn’t realise I got no spinach leaves so I used what I have in the fridge). Turn off heat.
- Seasoned with ground black pepper and fish sauce sparingly.
- Enjoy and add some pork scratchings and chopped spring onions as garnished. Xx
This dish makes use of Mung beans as the main ingredient complimented by different flavors from meat, seafood, and vegetables. Monggo Guisado is another version of Ginisang Monggo; this time using fish flakes from left over fried fish. I think that I cooked more than enough fried galunggong the previous day and I don't want it to go to waste. My solution was to make this simple and delicious monggo guisado. I can also make fish lumpia, but that will be in a future post.
