  19. Make ready 1/2 tsp fennel seeds
  20. Take 1 tsp sesame seeds
  21. Make ready 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  22. Make ready 1.5 tsp chilli powder
  23. Prepare 2 tsp powder sugar (optional)
  24. Take to taste Salt

Cornflakes chivda or makai chivda is a deep-fried savory mixture with sweet, spicy, and slightly tangy in taste. It is made with dried yellow-colored cornflakes also known as makai poha or corn poha, peanuts, Curry Leaves, Cashew Nuts, and regular spices. Makai poha is not ready to eat cereal cornflakes. Cornflakes Mixture Recipe / Cornflakes Chivda Recipe is a light, crispy snack, apt for the last minute Diwali preparation.

Steps to make Cornflakes Chevdo / Chivda:
  1. Soak chana dal and moong beans separately for 6 to 8 hours or overnight.
  2. Wash, peel and grate potatoes. Wash it once with water then soak it in the clean water for 30 minutes. Drain the water and put the grated potato on a cotton cloth to remove excess water.
  3. Fry potato chips on high heat until crisp and light brown in colour. Drain chana dal and moong beans and put it in a cotton cloth to drain excess water. Fry chana dal and moong beans also on high heat until crisp and light brown.
  4. Fry groundnuts, coconut slices, almond and cashew nuts on medium heat. Do not fry raisins.
  5. Heat 1 teaspoon oil and add some turmeric powder and salt to it then add kurmura to it and mix it well.
  6. Now in a big bowl, add everything along with cornflakes and mix it well.
  7. To prepare tadka, heat oil and add cinnamon and cloves to it. Now add mustard seeds and allow it to crackle. Add hing, curry leaves and turn off the heat. Add sesame seeds, fennel seeds, turmeric powder and chilli powder to it. Add this tadka to the chivda and mix everything well. Add powdered sugar and salt to chivda and give it a good mix. Taste and adjust the seasoning. Chilli powder and sugar can be adjusted according to your preference.
  8. Store in an airtight container. It can stay fresh for 10 to 15 days in an airtight container.

Makai poha is not ready to eat cereal cornflakes. Cornflakes Mixture Recipe / Cornflakes Chivda Recipe is a light, crispy snack, apt for the last minute Diwali preparation. Just a cup of cornflakes, peanuts, fried gram tossed up with chilli powder and salt, that's the recipe. But here I have chosen the healthy version and used the Kellogg's corn akes cereals. Because I have used cereal, there is no need to deep fry them.
